Depositors stand outside the doors of the First National Bank of Chanute anxiously awaiting payout on their accounts. The bank was one of several to fail that year. The local paper's photographer got a picture showing a bird's eye view of the line of depositors stretching around the building and down the block. I opted to go inside the bank instead, and that provided me with a front-row seat to the very human side of this painful story.
Photographed with a Pentax MX and SMC Pentax-M 100mm lens.
